Journal in the Field Blog with Ami Sangani
Our inaugural journal in the field session kicked off at the Southern Tablelands Ecosystem Park (forest 20, National Arboretum Canberra) on a rainy Spring Day. A dedicated trio of journal warriors braved the elements to come together for the love and joy of observing the natural world.
Undeterred by the threat of an imminent downpour, each of us lovingly chose which subjects to be inspired by that day. We photographed, sketched and coloured through the mizzle, but eventually reunited under a providentially placed shed to take refuge from the building rain. It served as the perfect interlude to trade tips and tricks, compare field kit and share our journaling journeys.
Eventually, we made a run for the warm and dry Village Centre during a lull in the rain to add warm words and colour to our pages over hot chocolate and Melting Moments. It proved the perfect place to soak up the vast, rolling Canberra skies doing their thing and watering the flora that in turn nurtures and nourishes us through our journaling.
