Learn all about creating beautiful paintings of leaves as a medium for nature-inspired art!

About the Workshop
There is such beauty lying at our feet as we walk through nature, the ground carpeted with fallen leaves and flowers, a feather from the birds in the trees above or the wing of a butterfly that has lived its life. It’s a world full of insects and twigs, fruit capsules and spent seeds, of the remains of life given a whole new level of meaning and beauty.

In this weekend workshop we’ll spend the first morning on a field trip, exploring the local leaf litter and documenting the species we find. After completing field sketches or a series of journal entries, we head back to the studio where we will create a composition and learn how to create the feeling of depth and layers of fallen leaves. On the final day, the focus will be on painting your final composition, capturing the beauty of the leaves, insects, flowers and other elements you have gathered and observed.

During this workshop you will learn various watercolour techniques for depicting leaves and other natural objects, as well as how to add depth and complexity to your painting compositions. The skills you learn will enable you to portray the natural world around you in a highly personal and detailed way, capturing both the beauty and variety of the world at our feet.
