Galahs in Watercolour - with Lesley Wallington (One-day workshop)
The Galah is one of Australia's best known parrots for its intense pink and grey colours. It is regularly seen in large flocks around Canberra and surrounds looking for nesting places, feeding on grasses or flying through our suburbs.
This one-day workshop will guide you through the process of drawing and completing a watercolour painting of a Galah. Working from photographs there will be instruction on underlying anatomy and how to make quick sketches and construct preliminary drawings. Students will learn basic drawing and watercolour techniques and with a simple palette will produce one or more completed works by the end of the day.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of skill. Beginners and students with experience drawing and painting are welcome.
Morning and afternoon tea provided. Bring your own lunch or there is a good selection from the local shops.
