1 March 2025, Australian Bird Series: Magpie Lark in Watercolour, with Lesley Wallington
Learn how to paint a Magpie Lark with experienced artist and tutor Lesley Wallington!
- Date: 1 March 2025
- Days/Times: Saturday 9.30am - 4.30pm
- Venue: Workspace A, M16 Artspace, 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith
About the workshop:
Commonly known as Peewees, you will often see Magpie-larks tapping at your window checking out their own reflection and defending their territory. They are bold birds with smart black and white markings that that remind us of Magpies yet are smaller and not related. Their common names include Peewee or Peewit because of their distinctive call.
In this day workshop we will take a look at these birds’ unique habits and get to know their character and features by practicing some quick sketches before building up to a detailed drawing. Colour mixing and basic watercolour techniques will be demonstrated as we work towards a completed Magpie-lark painting by the end of the day.
