(NEW) Studio Workshop and Field Trip: ONE DAY NATURE JOURNALING WORKSHOP, 2 July 22 (Beginners)
Learn to relax and explore the nature around you through nature journaling in the stunning Blue Mountains!
Nature journaling is a wonderful way to slow down and take your time to really look closely at the world around you. During this one day workshop we will go over the benefits of nature journaling, some exercises to help you draw with confidence and provide some top tips about materials and techniques to try.
We will draw some objects such as feathers and leaves in the classroom before going for an easy bush walk in the afternoon to find subjects to observe and draw in situ.
In the afternoon a field trip will be taken either into the park near the venue, or into the Blue Mountains National Park at the Glenbrook entrance; depending on weather conditions. There is an $8/vehicle fee to enter the National Park by car. An option to carpool will be offered.

During the workshop you will:
- gain knowledge of materials and equipment used with nature journaling
- gain confidence in drawing and basic painting skills
- get tips to make nature journaling as easy as possible, for capturing those fleeting moments
- get an overview of the benefits of nature journaling and key details to consider when nature journaling
About the tutor:
Freia Noss is a lifelong birder, painter, bushwalker, and Blue Mountains resident. During the week she works to manage re-vegetation projects on rural properties in Australia. In her free time she enjoys making artworks of the beautiful native Australian flora and fauna she encounters. Freia has degrees in both art theory and environmental science, and studied conservation biology in the Peruvian Amazon, with a focus on birds and butterflies. Her art practice has become an important a way for her to re-connect with the environment after a long day in the office, and to learn about and appreciate the complexity of our native wildlife.
