Learn to draw native birds with a simple stippling technique!

About the course:

Increase your confidence in your drawing skills and learn some tips on drawing native birds in this one-day course with Freia Noss. This course will cover the basics of preparing for a drawing, including getting past the fear of the blank page, initial sketching, considering composition, and performing tonal value studies. Students will pick a preferred bird or composition to focus on and will go on to learn how to draw using ink pen to create a dotting effect (sometimes called stippling, pointillism or pointillé) that can achieve scientifically accurate results. We will also cover equipment choices, and getting familiar with key aspects of bird anatomy, crucial to capturing the nature of our avian friends. At the end of the class you can expect to produce several sketches and a finished pen and ink drawing of a bird of your choice.
