$330.00

Description

With expert tuition from award-winning artist Cheryl Hodges, learn to illustrate Australian insects.

About our tutor:

Cheryl Hodges is an award winning local artist who has been painting botanical watercolours since 2000. Her painting technique involves building up the colour in many layers of soft washes, creating an almost translucent effect, then intensifying the final painting with very detailed dry brush work. She enjoys painting Australian native plants and insects. Cheryl is an invited member of the Florilegium of the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney with her painting Eucalyptus tereticornis in the permanent collection.

About our course:

This fascinating six-week course integrates art and science providing information on insect life cycles, diversity and structure. Access preserved insect specimens and other reference material, and use microscopes and macro-photography to create your own accurate drawings and watercolour illustrations. Learn about our Australian insect fauna and develop your watercolour skills with demonstrations, guidance and tuition from professional artist Cheryl Hodges. Each term we focus on three different insect orders.

Suitable for all levels of experience. Students wishing to develop their foundation skills in watercolour may also wish to enrol in the 'Introduction to Watercolour Course' with Lesley Wallington.
