Absolute Beginners Leather-working (wrist band or bookmark) with Amber Ecclestone
In this fun introductory course with Amber Ecclestone, You'll learn basic leatherwork techniques and make your own nature-inspired hairlip or pin.

About the course:
Students will be introduced to traditional leatherworking tools and techniques while making a wristband or bookmark with a focus on hand embossing and dying.
This is a small group class suitable for students with access needs.
Learning Outcomes
Techniques will include -
- safe use of tools
- edging, embossing
- optimal wetting
- coloured dying
- sealing.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Safely use embossing tools
2. understand different types of leather
3. Using colored dyes
4. finishing leather.
Pre-requisites: This course is suitable for students 16+ and beginners.
Material cost: Materials are included in the cost of this workshop.
About the tutor:
Amber became interested in leatherworking while doing work experience in high school with a traditional saddle maker. The skills she learnt in that week she still uses today and passes on to her students. Amber has been teaching Leather workshops at the National folk festival Community Arts for the last three years. She also taught Sheath making, Journal covers and Introduction to leatherworking classes at Tharwa Valley Forge.
