Learn all about watercolours with our experienced tutor Lesley Wallington to create your own beautiful artwork inspired by nature!
About the tutor:
Lesley Wallington is a professional award-winning artist and tutor with more than 20 years' experience. Her journey in water-based media through studies at the ANU with Noel Ford has resulted in innovative approaches to her painting with competency across a range of mediums. As a teacher, Lesley combines theory and technical advice with straightforward practical instruction on working with watercolour, gouache, pencil, ink and collage. With an in-depth knowledge of her medium and extensive experience teaching all age groups and levels, Lesley has the ability to inspire and direct a class while encouraging the unique style of individual students.
About the course:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to painting with watercolour using nature subjects for inspiration. Through a series of exercises and projects students will learn about materials, stretching paper, different properties of pigments and basic techniques for applying paint to paper.
Learning outcomes:
- Knowledge of watercolour paints, papers, brushes and other materials required for watercolour painting
- Skills and knowledge with watercolour paper preparation and stretching
- Skills and knowledge with use of pigments, basic colour theory and a range of different watercolour applications
Suitable for beginners and those wanting to revise their practice.
Materials List: A materials list will be provided prior to the workshop. We will have a full kit of good quality materials (Daniel Smith watercolour kit, stay-wet palette, 2 brushes and a high quality watercolour paper pad) available for students who are new to watercolour at a cost of $160.00. This represents excellent value for money, and will ensure that you achieve good results with your watercolour painting.
NatureArt Lab offers a safe space with social distancing observed throughout our course; students will have a full table to work at and student numbers are limited to 13 per class. We reserve the option to reschedule this course if required.
