Over 14 days explore some of the magnificent wilderness areas of Tasmania for a specialized fungi, moss and lichen macro-photography and nature journaling experience accompanied by expert guides. This is a unique opportunity to see some of the over 2,000 fungi species, mosses and lichens of Tasmania's wilderness areas.

This specialized nature tour includes all of the major bioregions of Tasmania, and enables you to see a full a range of cold temperate fungi.

Our nature tour begins in Hobart with accommodation nestled in the heart of the waterfront precinct. On our first day you can explore the famous Salamanca markets, followed by a guest speaker talk with renowned mycologist Dr Genevieve Gates on the fungi of Tasmania, and a welcome dinner.

You will experience some of Tasmania's most important forest ecosystems with wilderness walks through the Mount Field National Park, the pristine Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers, Lake St Claire, Tarkine Rainforests and the exceptional Cradle Mountain National Park. You will have the opportunity to observe and learn about hundreds of unique fungi species with the use of macro-photography and nature journaling techniques.

Enjoy a full day Gordon River World Heritage cruise with visits to Hells Gates, Sarah Island and the Gordon River boardwalk. This nature tour includes time for photo processing, nature journaling, as well as a visit to a Tasmanian Devil wildlife conservation centre for photo opportunities of Tasmanian Devils, Spotted tail and Eastern quolls. We will include dusk or night spotlighting walks at various locations to see some of Tasmania's nocturnal wildlife.
