This workshop is about creating artworks with combinations of paper collage and gouache to produce both subtle harmonious paintings and works of strong impact. Our subjects will be large botanicals featuring flowers, buds, leaves and plants and we will complete one or more works by the end of the workshop. We will learn about collage materials and mediums and how to layer paper to create a collage ground ready for painting with gouache, a water-based medium that produces strong colours in a smooth, matt finish. Sharon spends much time wandering and wondering about gardens. From her own domestic garden to the local bushland and further afield to surrounding national parks, she is energized and draws inspiration by walking in these environments. In recent years a gradual shift to include bookbinding and making has occurred. One highlight of this activity is having her handbound book in the exhibition Scripta manent VII “In principio The Word in Arvo Pärt’s Music”, at the Estonian History Museum, Tallinn, Estonia, Oct 2025.
