About the workshop:
This two-day workshop is for those starting out with painting small birds. You will specifically explore watercolour techniques to help you paint a bird with form and life ready to fly off the paper. To hone those techniques we will focus on the Eastern spinebill as our subject. You will learn about applying layers of watercolour and combining techniques to create accurate paintings that explore the full tonal range to give your bird realism and life. Printed or digital images will be provided, if you have access to a tablet or device it would be beneficial to bring it along to enable you to zoom in for detail. Please feel free to bring your own images to use if you have them.
- Paint in watercolour small birds with life!
- Explore basic watercolour techniques such as washes, dry brush and combine them to create the effects required.
- Explore colour mixing using a traditional restricted pallete.
- On completion of the workshop you will have learned watercolour techniques to complete a finished bird study in watercolour.
