NatureArt Lab offers participants the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and immerse themselves in art inspired by nature. Select a series of courses to suit your interests, and consider developing your foundation skills through a better understanding of colour theory, drawing skills or use of water-based mediums such as watercolour or gouache. Our team of experienced tutors will support your creative learning journey with expert instruction and guidance in a fully equipped art-science space.
Insects! Exploring Coloured Pencil Techniques - with Jan Clark (2-day workshop)
Join this fun and relaxing coloured pencil weekend workshop on insects with artist Jan Clark.
About the tutor:
Jan Clark is a professional artist and experienced art teacher with a strong interest in natural history art. She holds a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration (1st class Honours and University Medal) from the University of Newcastle.
About the workshop:
Learn about nature observation and explore coloured pencil techniques using insects and other wildlife subjects. This two day course will develop your observation and transition your drawing skills with coloured pencils. You will learn how to achieve subtle textures and layering, with specific tools and papers to achieve different effects.
The second day is an opportunity to apply these techniques to an image of your choice. A special kit of extra materials is included for each student to experiment with during the workshop. Students will have access to our insect collection specimens.
Suitable for all levels of experience. A materials list will be available on booking. Refreshments are provided for morning and afternoon tea; please bring your own lunch.
