About the workshop:
This day workshop takes a close look at Eastern spinebills. These delicate little birds are often seen flitting in and out of the undergrowth looking for nectar and insects. We will learn about their habits and character and study their features, anatomy and feather structure before doing some quick sketches and drawing exercises. Students will prepare an accurate drawing ready to paint with transparent watercolour and will finish the day with a completed painting. Easy to follow, step by step instruction will be given throughout the day to guide students through all processes. Learning outcomes: Students will gain an understanding of the importance of observation in the field and the fundamentals of sketching and drawing birds. They will also learn basic watercolour techniques, colour mixing, how to layer colour and the steps involved in working towards a finished work. Pre-requisites/level: Suitable for 16+ ages, all levels of experience.
