Studio Workshop: NATIVE ORCHIDS IN FOCUS - BOTANICAL MASTERCLASS IN WATERCOLOUR, 1, 2 - 3 October 2021 - Intermediate - Advanced
Reveal the fantastic world of Australian orchids, and see what is hidden from the eyes of many! Learn to paint your own orchid illustration in watercolour with scientific illustrator and scientist Anna Voytsekhovich.
About the tutor:
Anna holds a PhD in Botany and is a professional scientist, scientific illustrator, botanical artist and wildlife illustrator. She was born in Ukraine in 1982. Anna has illustrated and published several books and scientific papers. In 2016 she moved to Sydney and became a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia and the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia. Anna resides in Sydney and works on bush habitat restoration of critically endangered plant communities.
About the workshop:
During this masterclass you will learn all about Australian orchids. We will explore the science and ecology of these special plants including the interdependencies between orchids, fungi, shrubs and trees. Join us for a field trip to sketch and observe orchids in nature. With guidance from Anna back in our studio, you will then create your own scientifically accurate sketches of selected terrestrial orchids in graphite, and then transform these into beautiful watercolour studies.
Suitable for intermediate to advanced students. A materials list will be provided after booking. Please bring your own lunch and refreshments for this workshop. COVID-safe practices apply.
