Course Description:
If you’ve always loved banksia cones but have been too daunted by their complex structure to try drawing them, this course will help demystify the process. Students will be able to use graphite, coloured pencils and charcoal to create satisfying depictions of one of Australia’s most iconic plants. By the end of the class you will be able to tackle these wonderfully complex seed pods with confidence and flair, producing a final completed drawing ready to frame

Learning Outcomes:

• Understanding of banksia cones and the way they are formed
  
• Working knowledge of graphite, charcoal and coloured pencil techniques
  
• Knowledge of how to create a three-dimensional appearance using these mediums
  
• The confidence to create interesting compositions in your drawing 
  
  

About the tutor:
Dr. Fiona Boxall is a Canberra based artist, journaler and writer. She is passionate about the natural world and her work and journaling allows her to focus on this.  She teaches our Introduction to Drawing One evening classes and loves nothing more than helping her students develop their own drawing style and compositions.  She works in a variety of media and is constantly expanding and developing her approach.
