PRETTY IN INK: BIRDS IN MIXED MEDIA, Saturday 5 December 2020, Beginners to Intermediate
Get ready for the festive season and create as many brilliant bird-themed artworks as you like!
About the tutor:
Jessica is a bird-enthusiast and science communicator who has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She loves experimenting with new media, drawing with bright colours and using expressive lines.
She has had four years of experience as a graphic designer and freelance artist, while completing her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees. Jessica has worked in an extensive range of mediums, including – but not limited to – watercolour, inks, coloured pencil, chalk pastels and oil paints. She also has a passion for nature and the great outdoors, and is constantly inspired by the world around her.
About the workshop:
Looking for more cards for the holiday season? Or needing a small, unique and hand-made gift? Make up to fifteen unique, bird-themed cards in this fun, experimental workshop. We will cover the basics of drawing different types of birds, sketching and lining in pen, and using brightly coloured inks in a variety of ways. We’ll also cover introductory colour theory, composition and making the most of a small canvas. Then combine all these skills as we try to fill up an entire pad of watercolour cards.
This workshop is perfect for beginner artists, or those who want to build their confidence and make some fun, expressive art. No prior experience is necessary. Some materials are included for this workshop, and a list of materials for students to bring will be available prior to the session.
- Learn how to draw a range of different birds
- Draw with more speed and confidence
- Have fun experimenting with new media
Students are requested to bring their own lunch and other snacks for the workshop duration. Hand hygiene and personal distancing rules will apply for the workshop.
