NatureArt in Borneo: Artists and Naturalists 9 - 20 April 2019
This exclusive, specially designed tour by Adventure Alternative Borneo (AAB) from 9 - 20 April 2019 is for nature artists and naturalists to visit Sabah in Malaysian Borneo.
Internationally renowned for its animal and plant attractions, Sabah is justifiably famous for its Orang-utans, Proboscis Monkeys, Pygmy Elephants and dozens of other mammal species; amazing birdlife including 10 species of giant hornbill, nine species of pitta (truly the jewels of the rainforest) and the amazing Bristlehead. Sabah’s unique vegetation features pitcher plants, giant Rafflesia flowers and sprays of ferns and colourful orchids sprouting from towering rainforest trees. Insect life is prolific and includes the spectacular Rajah Brooke’s Birdwing among hundreds of other butterfly species; the giant Moon Moth and thousands of fascinating beetles, praying mantids and katydids.
Our tour will focus on four of Sabah’s best wildlife-viewing areas (see itinerary), to cater for as many interests as possible. Flexibility will be applied wherever possible so that a range of interests can be met. Whether it’s botany, entomology, birds or mammals this tour will provide a spectacular program for art inspired by nature. You will be accompanied by Borneo expert and Lonely Planet Field Guide author David Andrew,as well as a knowledgeable local guide.
Sabah has excellent infrastructure and accommodation, and is well set up to cater for wildlife tourism. English is widely spoken, the food is excellent and the wildlife superlative. Accommodation will be in comfortable lodges, transport in air-conditioned vehicles between destinations and in four-wheel drives where necessary; and on safe river craft at certain points.
Artists will have opportunities for sketching and art workshops throughout the tour, with support from a professional artist.
Participants will also have the opportunity to provide a local community contribution during the visit program - details to be confirmed.
The tour price ~$5,400.00 AUD includes all land content with meals, quality accommodation, in-country transport and professional guides. Final price may vary slightly depending on the number of participants. A maximum of 13 places are available. Experience the wildlife trip of a lifetime!
