She was born in Ukraine in 1982. In 2003 she started her research on lichen symbiosis at the Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since then she found and described 3 species new to science and made a few scientific discoveries. She is an author of a few books and scientific papers, but also a well-known scientific illustrator. In 2016 she moved to Australia and became a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia. She currently resides in Sydney and works on a Bush Habitat restoration of critically endangered plant community ESBS.

Participants will learn new and interesting facts about Australian fungi, their ecology and morphology. Anna will demonstrate examples of different drawing techniques used for sketching / botanical ink drawing / scientific drawing. Students will learn how to produce a scientifically accurate ink drawing and a beautiful botanical illustration of fungi.

Learn how to produce an initial drawing of selected fungi, what to include in composition, as well as how to transfer it on paper and produce an ink drawing.

We will provide a step-by-step pdf of ink drawing techniques to support the workshop.

You will then be able to produce a finished ink drawing of fungi of your choice over the next two weeks using the techniques learned during the tutorial. You will be able to send your completed drawings to Anna for feedback.

Suitable for beginners with some drawing experience through to advanced level students interested in learning about fungi illustration.
