ONLINE TUTORIAL - ILLUSTRATING BUTTERFLIES IN WATERCOLOUR, 1 November 2020; Beginner to Intermediate
Learn to create beautiful butterfly illustrations in watercolour with scientific illustrator Anna Voytsekhovich!
Anna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Ecology, and a PhD in Botany. She is a professional scientist, scientific illustrator, botanical artist and wildlife illustrator. Anna was born in Ukraine in 1982, and is an author of several books and scientific papers. She is also a well-known a scientific illustrator. In 2016 she moved to Australia and became a member of the Botanical Art Society of Australia. She currently resides in Sydney and works on a Bush Habitat restoration of critically endangered plant community ESBS. Anna is a regular NatureArt Lab tutor, and has taught a range of programs over the past two years.
Anna will cover the anatomy, ecology and morphology of butterflies. She will explore different colour patterns of Australian butterflies and explain how to paint them in watercolour. Learn how to produce an initial drawing of a butterfly, how to scale it, what to include in composition, and then learn how to transfer it on paper and produce a beautiful scientifically accurate illustration in watercolour. After the tutorial you will be able to produce a finished butterfly painting of your own choice using the techniques covered during the tutorial. You will have two weeks to finish your painting with an opportunity for personalised feedback from your tutor.
This workshop is suitable for beginners to intermediate level students with some drawing and watercolour experience. A materials list will be available to participants once bookings are received.
