About the workshop:
Scratchboard is a clay coated hardboard panel coated with Indian ink. Using various sharp tools to scratch into the ink layer, the clay underneath shows through. For added dimension, colored inks can be added to the white clay areas revealed and then scratched again for additional highlights and volume.
With a focus on reptiles, Rikki will focus on how to illustrate reptile skin using various scratch tools. She will also demonstrate and teach the use of airbrush for putting in and taking out backgrounds. All students will have the opportunity for personal mentoring with new tips and tricks to advance their scratchboard work. There will be a beginners and advanced class run in parallel with each level catered for separately.
Suitable for all levels of experience. Some materials will be available separately through the tutor for a small additional cost. A materials list is available on booking. Morning and afternoon tea refreshments will be provided; please bring your own lunch.
