About the Workshop:

The subject of this workshop is the delicate Silver Banksia, one of Australia’s most loved native trees. We will be painting the slender foliage, a new flower and a fruiting cone.

Students learn in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere whilst gaining confidence in developing their painting skills. Practical demonstrations of the techniques used in botanical art, like ‘wet on wet’, ’dry brushing’ and using masking fluid will be shown as we work through our painting.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Colour mixing using transparent washes
  2. Understand techniques in building high levels of detail
  3. Creating a painting in watercolour
  4. Applying masking fluid to create pattern and texture

Level of Experience: This workshop is suitable for beginners to intermediate level students with some drawing and watercolour experience.

Materials: A materials list will be available to participants once bookings are received, prior to the workshop.
