NatureArt Lab offers participants the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and immerse themselves in art inspired by nature. Select a series of courses to suit your interests, and consider developing your foundation skills through a better understanding of colour theory, drawing skills or use of water-based mediums such as watercolour or gouache. Our team of experienced tutors will support your creative learning journey with expert instruction and guidance in a fully equipped art-science space.
Fairy Wrens in Watercolour, Term One, 2020 - with Lesley Wallington
Learn about the fascinating habits of the fairy wren and create your own watercolour painting in a day!
About the tutor:
Lesley Wallington is a professional artist and tutor. She has followed her journey in water- based media through studies at the ANU and has collected a series of awards for her unique and innovative paintings. As a teacher Lesley combines theory and technical advice with straightforward practical instruction on working with watercolour, gouache, pencil, ink and collage. With an in-depth knowledge of her medium and extensive experience teaching all age groups and levels, Lesley can inspire and direct a class while encouraging the unique style of individual students.
About the workshop:
This one-day workshop will guide you through the process of drawing and completing a watercolour painting of one or two Fairy wrens. We will look at the habits and structure of these delightful little birds and get to know them with some quick sketches. Students will then transfer their final drawings and paint with wet and dry techniques. There will be step by step instruction and the course is suitable for all levels of experience.

Suitable for all levels of experience. A materials list will be provided prior to the workshop. Morning and afternoon tea refreshments are included; please bring your own lunch.
