3 Photography Tips for the Tasmanian Fungi Season

To prepare for the trip starting April 30, we spoke to our tour's expert guide and photographer Renee Prescott about her top macro tips to photographing fungi!

1.Get Low!
Glimpsing the detail inside the mushroom cap will enhance the shape and intricacy of your image. This can be tricky when shooting tiny fungi on the ground. Equip yourself with a tripod that can sit flat, or shoot upside down to get as low to the ground as possible.
2. Look, but don't touch!
Don't touch, eat, remove or damage the mushrooms in any way. This is for both your safety and to protect the fungi.
3. Train your Eye!
It may take some practice to be able to spot small fungi. Keep an eye out for a small dots of colour amongst moss, trees, logs and along the ground.
