Join NatureArt Lab for the Ultimate Costa Rica Nature Tour, and Experience Central America’s Unique Biodiversity

Experience Central America’s unique biodiversity on this special international tour to Costa Rica. Get a sneak peek at our packed itinerary, featuring rainforest walks, volcanoes, wildlife, and art and photography workshops.

Ever dreamed of travelling to Central America? You may have seen vibrant pictures of the scarlet macaw, red-eyed tree frog, howler monkey, and mangrove hummingbird in picture books growing up, or maybe even at the zoo. But Costa Rica is home to all these and more, with over 500,000 other species of wildlife, representing nearly 5% of the world’s species. It is one of the 20 most biodiverse countries in the world, and has higher density of biodiversity than any other country in the world.

That’s why the team at NatureArt Lab has chosen Costa Rica as the destination for our next international art tour for artists, nature journalers, photographers, and nature lovers alike. And we’d love for you to join us on this unique adventure!

Book Now!

On the tour, you will experience extraordinary rainforests and mountainous landscapes, see a range of diverse wildlife unique to Costa Rica, participate in photography and nature journaling workshops, and meet a group of likeminded nature lovers to share this unique experience with.

Your tour will be facilitated by Julia Landford, Founding Director of NatureArt Lab, and Alan Landford, who has a scientific background in zoology specialising in entomology from the ANU. Cristy Froehlich, award-winning Canberra-based nature photographer will also be joining us to facilitate nature photography workshops and one-on-one mentoring for participants during our journey. We will also be working with local Costa Rican tour guides Edgar Salazar del Valle and Royer Munoz (our specialist guide for the Osa region), for insights into the culture, history, and natural environment of Costa Rica.

“Costa Rica is an incredible country and one of the world’s most biodiverse hotspots. The country is famous for its protection of these magical ecosystems including the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean coastlines, beautiful cloud forests, and pristine rainforests with sloths, monkeys and colourful birds. This is an eye-opening nature experience that is like no other! ” – Julia Landford, Founding Director of NatureArt Lab

Here’s what some previous participants had to say about our Costa Rica Nature Tour:

“I have spent a lot of time in nature…but this adventure in Costa Rica, surrounded by a group of very skilled, intelligent and creative people, I learned more than expected by absorbing so much more information. I took a bit more time, looked a bit more carefully, and was richly rewarded by the amazing biodiversity that Costa Rica provided. So many different species each with its own beauty and interesting adaptations. I feel incredibly lucky to have spent time in nature this way.

Carolyn M.”

“Costa Rica once again highlighted for me the wonderful diversity of life on this planet, how precious it is and how important it is for us to ensure that we hold onto it and preserve it for generations to come.”

Lyn R.

"Seeing and experiencing Costa Rica brought to vivid life for me the formative images I grew up with reading illustrated books about the rainforests of Central and South America, and its teeming and related ecosystems. Every day saw myriads of remembered images from two dimensional pages come to three-dimensional life in front of my eyes, even more spectacular than I could have imagined. To share this time with a group of like-minded people was a wonderful and never to be forgotten life experience for me.”
